Machu Picchu is pleasant and interesting in the late afternoon. It gets to be a long day if you arrive at dawn.

Machu Picchu Sanctuary

We stayed in the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge close to the entrance to the sanctuary. When everyone else had to go back down the mountain to their hotels and campsites we went back into the sanctuary and I was able to photograph with very few other people around.
